It's an 08. They had too many problems with the new motor design that year. I'll be getting a '10 or an '11 next year. They seem to have the motor and the suspension sorted by now.

Nice bike, but only you wealthy folks can afford a KTM, $7K for a used bike:, I could fill my garage with XR's for that kind of money, and they will all go the same places the KTM does, maybe not as pretty or as fast, but I would have money left to buy gas:dirtdog

If I sold all three of my bikes, I could buy a KTM. :

I am surprisingly happy with my XRL. I thought it might be too tall and too heavy...but, I think it's improved my skills some, because I MUST keep my feet on the pegs. Since I have no choice, I don't dab, keep better balance, and although I've done things like the Jean Dry Lake Hillclimb (where you MUST turn around on the rocky hill covered in deep sand at some point) I have yet to drop it. uh There, I've jinxed myself.

Besides, if I had a sub-300 lb bike with better power, would I have more fun, or just be more likely to crash at higher speeds? I can appreciate the performance the KTM's provide, but, I'm not going to be buying one. Dang, I might have jinxed myself again! :lol

Seems the hot ticket nowadays is to stuff an RFS 525 motor into an 08+ frame. The RFS motors are bulletproof. Even more so than the mighty XR and make WAAAYY more power. This would be a cool project if all the stars aligned.
